lights a broad area (maybe about 25-30 ft area) but not terribly bright. Still, for being solar powered and not costing me a dime (to use) I‘m good with that. It casts enough light so’at you don’t take a diggah on your steps or your walkway, on departure or approach. Also I can see my dogs when they go out. Also it has a motion sensor so it scares away BigFoot (I hope).

So far it works pretty well and it‘s very easy to install, the only reason why I don’t give 5 stars is because it’s impossible to dim the light, I’m using it indoor and it’s extremely bright, and because it’s impossible to low the sensor an therefore it tuns on more often than I would like reducing the battery life which would be otherwise very good. For the rest I really like it and it’s really worth the money

It has 3 modes...1) mid bright always (off during the day) 2) dim when no motion, full bright with motion, 3) light is off, full bright with motion. Really bright and works as advertised. I had smaller but similar motion-sensor and work nights/OFF during the day, and when the Winter started this year with freezing temps, I accidentally bumped it, and it cracked and dropped off! I wanted to replace it with something just as bright, choosing this for the long light to illuminate all of our front steps. It does it well without problems. Just make sure it‘s positioned well, otherwise you might be walking and wondering WHEN you will be detected by the sensor! How I positioned this light, when I open the front door at night to go out, it lights up!
