Solar Post Lights Edison LED Waterproof Fits 4x4 3.5x3.5

This is all plastic which is to be expected at this price. There is one LED bulb in the center and a rechargeable batter in the top. The base and the top both quarter turn to come off for mounting or access to the battery. Comes with mounting screws as well. When I cover the to[p with my hand, the light comes on instantly which is nice. Its pretty simple but yet well built and a good value for a 2 pack. I am happy with the order.

I obtained the btfarm 4x4 Solar Post Cap Lights but with no intention of installing them as permanent fixture. My plan is to solar charge it off my window where the sun shine the brightest then use it to gently light my room at night. This way I don’t have to stumble around to find the light switch in the middle of the night on my way to the bathroom. Things that I like: 1. The solar lights looks nice and blend well when placed on top of my expresso cabinet. 2. They are easy to use. Just remove the protective covering off the battery and on top of the solar panel. Charge it during the day then it automatically turns on at night. 3. Brightness is gentle rather than intense and on the warm side which is comfortable for sleeping. 4. Build quality seems good for the price point ($16 for 2 at time of review), though it’s mainly made of plastic. I did find the lampshade a little on the fragile side and since it doesn’t provide an airtight seal, I have a concern over its waterproof claim. Fortunately, I’m only using it indoor.

Very affordable two-pack that are adaptable to fit either a 4x4 post or 3.5x3.5 post. These post caps are made entirely of plastic and include three sets of two screws and anchors, so there is one extra set. The instruction booklet gives the wrong instructions for activating the solar light. To activate, just twist the lamp shade part to the left to remove it from the base, and you will see there‘s a green plastic tab over the battery compartment. You only need to pull the tab out and the light will turn on as they are already charged. To remove the base when you are ready to install, just twist the entire top part to the left (which has two pieces). The very top that has the light bulb is also removable by twisting to the left. If you need it to fit a 3.5x3.5 post, just pull down on the inner corners of the base and the adapter will slide right out. That’s it! Don’t forget to remove the protective plastic film over each solar panel. There are 4 pre-drilled holes on each base so you can secure them to wooden or vinyl posts horizontally or vertically or both. They emit a soft brightness when placed in a sunny spot and will turn on automatically at dusk and last nearly all night. The battery capacity is 400 mAh. I have no idea if you can replace the battery, the description doesn’t say, but there is a slot beside the battery compartment, so perhaps. I didn’t to try and open it in case I caused some problem. The decorative design is classic vintage with its Edison bulb. And best of all no wiring!

When it comes to safety, there is no good argument letting family and guests stumble around in the dark. Solar lighting products, for whatever their weaknesses, offer to fill that niche where you need light, but utility power is unavailable. Consider this product from the all-lower-case “btfarm” store. This product consists of a set of 8 solar-powered LED lights, intended for mounting to the top of a vertical 4x4 post, as one might use in a garden wall or deck rail. The base of the lamp can be twisted off... affixed to the top of a 4x4 with screws... and then the fixture twist-snapped back on. I small solar cell at the top of the fixture charges an internal battery (note: you need to extract a green shipping-insulator to activate the light after you receive it.) After dusk, the lamp turns itself on and generates a respectable amount of warm, white, light. A set of these, along the top of a wall, have festive look and cumulatively produce substantial light. I have some 4x4 scrap (not enough to build “walls” with, but enough to set in the ground as short footpath-light pedestals, and I think these lamps will do fine service. Also, here in the desert southwest, packrats are fond of nesting around my well plumbing, pool pump, and similar circumstances... the do so for shelter. They interpret exposure to light as risk of detection from predators, and so it has occurred to me that a couple of these solar fixtures, just set upon the ground, may discourage them from hanging around. The lights are fabricated wholly of plastic... a black plastic housing with plastic windows... even the solar cell is plastic, and therein lies my immediate concern with the product. I have purchased similar products, of similar construction, and between the extreme UV content in our sunlight, and obscene temperatures that black objects assume in the noonday sun, and ambient heat that tends to devolatilize/embrittle plastics and cook batteries, I would be shocked if these remained functional for more than a year. At a fifty-buck price-point, each unit is $6.25 apiece. If these are deployed with an understanding they’re a temporary, disposable, solution (that’s how I see them), the expense may well be justifiable. If you live in a less-hostile climate than mine, you will almost certainly enjoy better functional-life from the product. Overall, I judge these fixtures “OK,” but not great, depending upon use-case. Four stars would seem both realistic and fair.

These are nice, simple post cap lights with good lighting. These are for a 4 x 4 post and would not fit anything larger than a 4 x 4. They’re are feather light made of plastic, but they do come with screws so they don’t come off of the post with wind and overall they seem to be put together very well. They are easy to install and give off enough light to see steps or a gate latch or door lock. The light color is in between a warm white and a bright light, but not too overpowering to blind you. The light is steady on, it does not have any additional features like color changing or blinking for the flame effect. These lights are bright enough so that I can turn my front porch light off and still see to unlock the door. I really like the simple non-extravagant look of these lights. I will be buying more.

Thoughtfully made light weight post lights. Installation is a breeze since it unhooks from its base cap so that you can attach it to your post. Then you twist the top to put your light back on. The top (cover) of the light compartment also twist off from the clear plastic portion. So that you can access the on off switch/battery compartment. They all twist click together and stay steady and firm when you put the pieces back together. My application was not on a 4 x 4 post, but it does fit on top of a 4 x 4 post. And my pictures you’ll see. I put them on slightly larger posts, but thanks to having screw holes not only on the sides of them, but also on the top, it was possible to put them on any flat surface. They came partially charged and within a day out in the sun they load almost the entire night before needing to recharge with their solar panel. They are a warm white light and not overly bright.

We have a fence on the side of our house next to the driveway. It is very dark over there at night. I was looking for something to add a little light in case we need to take the trash cans out or see what the dogs are up to when they go out at night. These post lights are perfect. They are easy to install. I haven’t even added the screws yet because they snapped pretty securely onto our posts, but they have stayed put even through a couple of windy days. There is an adapter if your post is not the correct size. Measure before ordering to make sure you get a good fit. I removed the green battery tab and the protective plastic on the solar panel. These came charged, just put your hand over the panel to test. They charge quickly and stay on until morning. I love that these lights add safety and security without the hassle of messing with wiring. They don’t provide a ton of light, but add an attractive glow to any dark spot. They are plastic so not sure how long they will last, but for the price they are a great value and add some curb appeal. I need to order a few more so they are on all the posts. These come in a two pack.

Work great and look beautiful! We don‘t have electricity at our fence, but we wanted a way to light them up. I found btfarm 4x4 solar post caps and they are perfect. The house is far away from the road and we still can see them at night. They last all night long a single solar charge.

Works well and stays on all night. Very happy with how well it looks on my new deck.
